About the webinar
While modern AI chatbots (such as ChatGPT and Gemini) are new in many ways, this is not the first technology which people have grown attached to. In 2011, before the rise of social media apps and the age of AI, Sherry Turkle published Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other. In her research, Turkle found how some people personify robots and grow attached to them, even preferring them over interaction with humans. The same thing is happening today, as already one in ten teens prefer speaking with an AI Companion than they do a human being.
About Andrew Noble
Andrew Noble is a PhD candidate at the University of Nottingham, where his research focuses on theology and technology. He teaches at Heritage College and Seminary and serves as an elder at Grandview Church in Kitchener, Ontario. About Michael Bothwell
Michael Bothwell is pursuing a Bachelor of Theology in Youth Ministry at Heritage College & Seminary and serves as youth intern at Crestwicke Baptist Church. He specializes in connecting the principles of Scripture to the technological contexts of everyday life, with neither a naive tech-optimism nor a resistant tech-pessimism.
